Beneficial Properties

When thinking about using some of our products, it is nice to have the ingredients listed so that you can look up their beneficial properties.  Below, you will find a list of our ingredients and how they may help you.  The list offers the main benefits and how we apply them with our products.

HERBS

Aloe Vera - Is used on the skin to soothe sunburn, itching, rashes, burns, cuts, eczema, psoriasis, shingles and for skin inflammation.  This plant is easily grown and widely used at home.  If you plan on growing your own, make sure that you use the "aloe vera" species as there are over 400 types of aloe.

Beetroot Powder -  Used for its natural coloring.

Blackberry Leaf - Wild crafted and used as a tea for its antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Treats mild inflammation in the mouth and throat.

Cacao -  This comes from bean-like seeds from which cocoa, cocoa butter and chocolate are made.  Cacao is considered the raw form until is is processed into Cocoa.  Used in foods and skin products.  Cacao blocks harmful free radicals, is an antioxidant, contains vitamin C and magnesium.

Calendula - This is sometimes called a "pot marigold' but it is not the flower that you see in common landscapes.  The flower heads and leaves are used for its medicinal properties and can be used both internally and topically.  Antimicrobial, antioxidant, antiseptic and assists with skin issues.  Additionally, it is anti-inflammatory and skin healing.  Excellent for blood circulation, acne, skin ulcers, burns, bruises and can help reduce scarring.

Carrot - Packed with vitamin A and C, minerals, skin healing properties and carotene.

Carrot Seed - Suitable for all skin types, replenishes dry or mature skin and is a regarded antioxidant, detoxifier with anti-carcinogenic properties.

Catnip - Listed in the mint family and is highly recommended to be used as an herbal tea for upset stomach, stress, insomnia and menstrual pain.  Aids in infant colic and restlessness.

Cayenne - This is a potent warming stimulant for the whole body and assists with circulation, toning the nervous system and to help relieve pain and inflammation.  Contains a great deal of vitamin C and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body.  Handle this ingredient with care and keep away from face!

CBD Oil - CBD is one of over 60 compounds found in Cannabis Sativa that belongs to a class of ingredients called cannabinoids.  The oil that we use is absolutely legal due to its plant origin and approved for all 50 states.  In no way do any of our products that offer CBD as a topical or oil, cause any type of mind altering effects and is non-psychoactive.  Studies have shown benefits may include pain management, anti-inflammation, reduced anxiety, has cancer fighting properties, is an antioxidant and can assist the immune system.

Chamomile - A calming herb, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, which also helps relieve redness and swelling.  Protects the skin from free radical damage.  Helps with stress and to relax in the evening.  Excellent to use under the eyes for puffiness.  Used in a tea for digestion issues and cramps.

Chickweed - Offers a cooling and drying effect on the skin for wounds and skin eruptions.  A natural skin rejuvenator.  Chickweed is eaten raw for its nutrients but also plays a huge part for healing the skin, wounds and body.  It grows wild in Florida.

Citronella - Originates from lemongrass and is best know as a mosquito repellent.  Can assist with mental exhaustion, depression and anxiety.

Cinnamon (Ceylon) - A warming spice that helps to stimulate the kidneys natural system of getting rid of body toxins, which, in turn is beneficial to the skin.  It is considered an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, may reduce risk of heart disease, reduced blood pressure, energizes, helps to level blood sugar, reduced insulin resistance and may be protective against cancer.

Cloves - Enhances the immune system, anti-inflammatory, has numbing properties, antiviral, anti-fungal, antiseptic and stimulating.

Coffee bean - An organic whole bean that is a natural stimulant with caffeine. Offers detoxifying properties and is invigorating to the skin.  We create coffee bean powders, handcrafted oils and extracts to be used in other products for its benefits, scent, and flavor.

Comfrey - Made up of a multitude of healing substances that include calcium, tannins, rosmarinic acid, mucilage and vitamins A, B and C.  It also contains high levels of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which are highly toxic to the liver.  Never take Comfrey internally!  Used only as a topical for healing wounds, fading scars, anti-inflammation and can aid in healing soreness, strains, and sprains.  We create our own comfrey oil to then be used in other products for its benefits topically.

Echinacea - Stimulates the immune system, assists with preventing and fighting the common cold and flu. Assists with urinary tract infections, common infections and has cancer-fighting properties.

Elderberry - An old-school remedy for preventative care and during sickness with cold or flu.  It is mostly used during cold and flu season and works very well for upper respiratory and sinus infections.  Antioxidant, flavonoids, vitamin C and stimulates the immune system.  Used as a tea, syrup, tincture, baking and topically.

Elderflower - A sweet smelling, delicate flower with medicinal properties that is used as a tea, tincture, poultice and more.  Used both externally and internally. It is amazing for the skin!  Used as a tea, syrup, beverage, tincture and for baking.

Eucalyptus - (Globulus) - This herb helps to restore positive energy, lift depression and give focus.  Assists with breathing during colds, bronchitis, hay fever and episodes of sinusitis.  The essential oil can help prevent airborne infections.  It has been shown to ease stiff or pulled muscles and especially when blended with other similar herbs like lemongrass.

Evening Primrose - Offers high amounts of GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) and other fatty acids that offer skin rejuvenating properties.  Works very well for mature or damaged skin.

Frankincense (resin) - Brings peace and balance.  Can calm anxiety as well as improve skin tone.  Recommended for mature skin with fine lines.

Geranium - Safe for all skin types and helps calm irritability and relax the mind. Helps to even out oily complexion or combination skin. Nourishes dry or mature skin and is excellent for the face.

Ginger root - One of the most important spices with numerous beneficial properties!  An excellent remedy for a sore throat, sinus relief, cough, colds, flu symptoms, aching muscles, arthritis and joint pain.  It additionally soothes an upset digestive and eases nausea.  The warm scent can ease anxiety and can boost mental wellness.

Ginger may be useful in the fight against cancer with its compounds that protect cells from excess free radicals.  Free radicals can trigger the kinds of cell mutations that can lead to cancer.  For the skin, ginger is very stimulating, helps blood flow, is antispasmodic, has vitamins A and B, minerals and amino acids.

Ginkgo - Believed to be the oldest surviving tree on the planet and was first discovered to have healing properties in 3,000 B.C..  Used to treat poor circulation, improve concentration, brain function and the immune system. Contains flavonoids and offers antiseptic, anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory properties.  Promotes blood flow to the brain and has been said to possibly assist with tinnitus.

Goldenrod - A member of the daisy family with all of the above ground parts used medicinally.  Contains saponins, flavonoids, and phenol carboxylic acids. Offers anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.  Mostly used as a tea or tincture and can help kidney and urinary tract disorders.  The saponins make it useful in treating the fungus responsible for causing yeast infections and oral thrush.  Some studies show that it is useful to help treat some allergies.  Goldenrod grows wild on our farm.

Hibiscus - Used as a coloring, flavoring, tea, tincture and has therapeutic properties.  Highly antioxidant and high amounts of vitamin C. Has been said to lower blood pressure, support healthy cholesterol, prevent oxidative stress, fight free radical damage and offers anti-cancer properties.  We grow the Roselle Hibiscus here on our farm.

Lavender - One of the most popular herbs with multiple healing properties.  Used for relaxation, stress and emotional anxiety.  Used in the evening to assist with insomnia.  Its' healing properties help with burns, eczema, irritated skin, minor cuts, insect bites, muscular strain, lower backache, swelling and bruising.

Lemon - High in vitamin C, antiseptic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, aids in digestion and helps to fight flu and cold.  Use fresh fruit to help detox the body by making lemon water and consume daily.  Lemon stimulates the flow of lymph fluids and aids in iron and calcium absorption.  Used as a skin and hair lightener and can fade some sunspots.  Lemon is photo-toxic:  do not use in the sun. 

Lemon balm - A member of the mint family and mostly used as a tea or tincture. Offers antispasmodic, antiseptic and calming properties.  Excellent for upset stomach and in stressful times.

Lemon Thyme - Similar properties to garden thyme, but with a lemony taste. Used for asthma, respiratory and as an antiseptic.  Especially good as an herbal tea.

Lemongrass - Helps to ease muscular aches, muscle spasms or physical tension.  Aids to soothe digestion, clear mental clutter and help with depression.

Licorice root - True licorice is not the flavoring in licorice candy.  The candy gets its flavor from Anise oil and not the licorice plant.  Its' therapeutic effects are from the glycyrrbizin that is very similar to the human hormone, cortisone.

It's a potent anti-inflammatory and pain reliever when used as a medicinal tea or tincture.  It is not to be used over an extended amount of time and has been known to hold sodium in the body.  It is not recommended to use Licorice root for more than 4 weeks.  Rotate its usage and then take a 2-week break.  Licorice has been proven to assist with gastritis, improve gastric ulcers and ease bronchial congestion.

Milk Thistle - The seeds are the most medicinal part and have shown signs to detoxify the body and especially the liver.  Milk thistle belongs to the sunflower and daisy family and is mostly used as a tea or tincture.  Noted for its antioxidants and being able to help draw toxins out of the body.  Offers Vitamins C and E and has thought to help reduce the aging process.  Seeds must be powdered or crushed in order for the medicinal properties to be adsorbed.

Moringa - The Ben Oil tree has been used for thousands of years and offers many proven health benefits such as offering antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, hormone balancing, improved digestive health, nourishes the skin and for brain health.  Contains protein, vitamins A and C, potassium, calcium, flavonoids, essential amino acids, carotenoids and much more.  The leaf is used as a tea, in foods, powdered or in tincture form.

Myrrh - Safe for all skin types and helps to create a sense of inner peace. Properties can help repair a skin wound that is slow to heal.  Do not use Myrhh essential oil during pregnancy!  Has been considered one of the most effective saps for treating sore throats, gum infections, and canker sores.

Neem - All parts of the Neem Tree are useful and is mostly known to repel insects through its potent oil.  It is used in organic gardening all over the world to protect plants from insects and prevent disease.  Additionally, can be used for skin products, oral health, and hair.  A wonderful all-natural treatment for head lice and itchy scalp.  Many health food stores sell a Neem shampoo blended with other plant extracts for hair and scalp.

Nettle - Used mostly as a tea or tincture and noted for its detoxifying effects.  It has been said to assist with purifying the blood, assist with prostate and is a very good source of iron.  Medicinal teas and tinctures have been used to manage blood sugar levels and to ward off kidney stones.  The active ingredients, such as tannins, chlorophyll, minerals, vitamin A and C can offer assistance with the skin.

Oats - Used as a carrier, soaks, soaps and more to offer skin healing and moisturizing properties.  A wonderful antioxidant and can assist in undoing the damage from UV rays from the sun.  Oats are skin calming and can help with eczema, psoriasis and other skin disorders.  Active ingredients in oats are saponins, alkaloids, protein and minerals.

Orange Peel - Used fresh and dried in teas, culinary or for face and body. Astringent, high in vitamin C and pectin.  Essential oil from the pores on the outer peel offer uplifting mood qualities.

Oregano - Used as a culinary but also is highly medicinal as a tea and tincture.  Research confirms its' use as an antibacterial and antifungal treatment for all manners of respiratory ailments and other complaints.  It is antispasmodic, choleretic, bile stimulant, and helps with digestion as well as an expectorant. Used for bronchitis, coughs and asthma.  It promotes menstruation and should not be used in medicinal doses for some women.

Passionflower - Grows wild in Florida; its' leaves and flowers are used for teas and tinctures.  Passionflower is well known to assist with relaxation, stress and sleep, especially when blended with other similar herbs.

Patchouli - Safe for all skin types and helps to build balance in your mood. Soothes nervous exhaustion and deep emotional stress.  Hydrates and nourishes dry, wrinkled or mature skin.

Peppercorn (Black Pepper- Not for sensitive skin, but can help ease stiff muscles and sluggish digestion.  Used mainly with turmeric to assist with body absorption.

Peppermint - Moderate skin sensitizer that needs to be carefully used.  Will help to clear sinuses, is a natural stimulant, cooling, helps with headaches, sinuses, and minor aches.  An excellent herb for stomach upset, bloating, and cramps. Mint is essential oil rich in menthol as well as bitters and tannins.

Plantain - Wild crafted and dried, then used for tea, tincture or herbal oil.  Used for sunburns, skin disorders, skin calming, cuts, scrapes, bruises and more.  Can be used in a salad or used as a poultice.  Make an herbal tea and use for mouth ulcers or oral care.

Raspberry Leaf - Similar properties to the Blackberry Leaf and used mostly as an herbal tea.  Mostly used for women's complaints and offers vitamins A, B, C, and E.

Red Clover - Wild crafted and used for culinary, herbal teas and herbal oils.  Used for women's complaints, respiratory health and said to have anti-cancer properties.  Offers several vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, niacin, phosphorous, potassium, thiamine and vitamin C.

Rose - Safe for all skin types but especially useful for mature skin with its softening and toning effects.  Offers emotional support and eases hormone-related mood swings.  Restores dry, wrinkled or mature skin.  Especially useful herb for women's menopausal symptoms.

Rosehips - Provides immunity-boosting vitamin C, is slightly acidic, contains carotenoids, pectin and is highly antioxidant.  Has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties that make this a useful disinfectant.  Used on the skin for under eye puffiness and assists with aging skin.

Rosemary - Used in culinary, is stimulating and helps with memory and mental fatigue.  Stimulates sore muscles, especially before or after sports.  Rosemary offers antioxidants, has anti inflammatory compounds, improves digestion and could help with macular degeneration.

Sage - Used medicinally for thousands of years for cough, throat infections, colds and flu symptoms.  Active agents include camphor, eucalyptol, tannins, and flavonoids.  Favored for its antiperspirant and estrogen-like effect.  A natural deodorizer and air purifier.  Make a tea to ease respiratory infections, nasal congestion, coughs, tonsillitis and sore throats.  Very useful for fever, night sweats, nervous sweating, kidney health and urinary tract health.

Sencha Green Tea - Only the purest Japanese tea leaf shows to have significant healing properties.  "Camellia Sinensis" plants.  Green tea is made with carefully timed steamed, dried leaves and is not allowed to ferment like the black tea leaf. It is minimally processed and has been said to help prevent tooth decay, heart disease preventative and has anti-cancer properties.  All tea leaves contain caffeine, tannins, essential oils, polyphenols, vitamins, minerals and trace elements such as fluoride.

Spearmint - A valuable remedy that is similar to peppermint and is a mild sensitizer.  Used for uplifting the mood and depression.  The tea is excellent for abdominal discomfort with aches and pain.

Spirulina - a blue-green micro-algae and one of the oldest life forms on earth. Spirulina is extremely high in many nutrients, is a powerful antioxidant, could help with cholesterol and may be effective against anemia. For the skin, is offers phytonutrients, carotenoids and is an important antioxidant to help defend skin from free radicals.  Assists with premature aging internally and externally.

Stevia - One of many herbs that are grown on site at Oakwood Natural Living that we use for culinary blends and herbal teas.  It is much sweeter than sugar and can be used in the raw to sweeten beverages.  One small dried leaf is more than enough to sweeten a drink.

Strawberry - Leaves, berries and roots are used for its medicinal properties. Leaves contain tannin, which is an astringent.  High in Vitamin C and the fruit has skin brightening properties.

Sweet Orange - Safe for all skin types and is not photo-toxic (as most citrus ingredients are).  Uplifting properties and assists with mood swings.  Can be used on the face to unclog pores and detoxify the skin.

Tea Tree - Antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral.  Used to speed healing of infected cuts, wounds and insect bites.  Offers healing properties for acne.

Thyme - Rich in "thymol", which has properties that are expectorant, antibacterial and antispasmodic.  Used as an antifungal and liniment.  A strong tea is made for easing bronchitis with 1 Tbs of dried herb to 1 cup of water, cover and steep 10 minutes.  Drink 4 cups daily until symptoms ease.  Thyme helps to unblock respiratory passages during colds and flu.  Supports the bodys' immune system during a viral infection.  Used as a tea to overcome post viral fatigue.

Turmeric - An all-around internal cleanser, as well as a digestive and urinary tonic.  This root can ease the symptoms of IBS and nervous indigestion.  Shown to help with chronic fatigue, post viral conditions, has cancer-fighting properties, helps with circulation, arthritis and heals from the inside.  Offers skin brightening antibacterial properties.

Valerian Root - One of the oldest remedies to assist with sleep that offers alkaloids, bitters and tannins, is strongly sedative, has antispasmodic and hypnotic properties.  It is used for insomnia, depression and nervous tension.

Vanilla Bean - Mostly used for flavoring, scent and its' uplifting benefits. 

White Sage - One of many herbs that we grow on site at Oakwood Natural Living that is used for culinary, herbal teas, skin applications and making smudge sticks to burn as incense.  This herb has been used by Native Americans for centuries for its antimicrobial properties.

Yarrow - One of the best herbs to use as a natural remedy for fevers, flu, stomach aches, sore throats and menstrual problems.  The entire plant is used except for the root and can be used internally and externally.  Additionally used for varicose veins and hemorrhoids.

 

BUTTERS

Cocoa Butter - (Organic, raw and unrefined) Obtained from the roasted seeds from which cocoa and chocolate are made.  It is a waxy, pale yellow with a slightly sweet, chocolate-like aroma.  Cocoa butter has been used in the confectionery, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries for years and is compatible with a wide range of raw materials, including plant oils and essential oils.

Shea Butter - (Organic, raw and unrefined) This cream-colored plant butter is obtained from the nuts of the Bassia Parkii tree, that grows along the West coast of Africa.  We purchase directly from Africa to ensure the absolute best raw, pure quality.  Contains Vitamins A and E, antioxidant, is skin nourishing and healing. One of the best ingredients for sensitive skin and for eczema.

 

WAX

Beeswax - We use our own beeswax from our treatment-free apiary on site at Oakwood Natural Living.  It is raw, unrefined, uncolored, unbleached and in its' purest form.  Depending on the season, our raw beeswax ranges in several colors from very pale yellow to bright orange.  The type of pollen the bees collect at the time of year, will dictate the natural coloring.  We only collect wax from honey wax cappings or over-built comb ("burr comb").  We never harvest any beeswax that could destroy a colony or hurt the bees' health or production.

 

DRY INGREDIENTS

Activated Charcoal - A fine, black powder made from charred coconut hulls.  This is not the same as the charcoal that is typically used for cooking / barbecuing as that kind typically comes from "not so natural" sources. 

Used for its skin brightening properties, detoxifying, deep pore cleansing, and drawing properties.  Can be used for internal and external applications such as the skin, hair, toothpaste, oral rinses and more.  Keep in mind that it does stain temporarily.  The body does not absorb activated charcoal, therefore, it can trap toxins to be eliminated.  It is commonly used to treat for accidental poisoning in medical facilities.

Arrowroot - Used as a powdered starch from its' plant roots and is used as a carrier, thickener or in herb powder blends.

Baking Soda - Mined from the Earth and used for skin, hair, oral health, soaks, poultices and for cooking.  This ingredient offers amazing therapeutic properties with a long list of uses.  Baking Soda does not contain any aluminum (which is common in most deodorants).  It offers properties such as skin softening, cleansing, anti-itch, absorbs odors, treats digestive upsets, acid reflux, heartburn and whitens teeth.  With its antibacterial properties, it is excellent in facial products.  Can be made into a paste with a little water as a blemish treatment.

Bentonite - This is composed of ash made from volcanoes.  The largest known source of Bentonite clay is found in Fort Benton, Wyoming, where numerous volcanoes are present.  High in calcium, it has drawing properties, is deep cleansing, reduces welts and skin ulcers, is rich in trace elements and is excellent for detoxification.  Never use any metal utensils or containers with Bentonite as it leaches metal particles into itself.

Cornstarch - This is made from the fine kernel of the corn plant and is a fine white powder that is used as a neutral carrier ingredient for herbal powders.

Whole Oats (Avena Sativa) - Has been used cosmetically for years and offers therapeutic qualities such as skin soothing, relief for itch, skin allergies, and redness.  It can be used alone as a soap-free skin cleanser.  It naturally moisturizes, is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant.  Contains amino acids and trace elements.

Whole Milk - Dehydrated in powder form makes an excellent absorbent carrier material for herbal powders, face masks, bath soaks and other preparations.

Xanthan Gum - A powdery white substance that is a natural sugar produced by fermentation.  It is used as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier.  It is produced when glucose, sucrose or lactose is fermented by the bacteria Xanthomonas Campestris.

 

PLANT OILS

Almond Oil (sweet) - Helps reduce itching, cracking and inflammation.  Rich in both minerals and Oleic Acid (not recommended for people with nut allergies).  Not to be confused with "bitter" Almond Oil.

Apricot Kernel Oil - Easily absorbed, is suitable for all skin types and is useful for sensitive skin while also helping dry itchy skin.  A valuable source of beta-carotene!

Argan Oil - Expressed from the Argan Tree in Morocco.  Very rich and beneficial oil that is used on the skin and hair.  It does not clog pores, feeds the skin and hair.  Rich in Vitamins A and C and is highly antioxidant.

Castor Oil - A thick, clear oil from the castor bean and is used as a moisturizer for damaged dry skin.  It is not the same as the motor oil commonly used in our cars, but that particular oil did originally come from the castor bean.  It is a home remedy for constipation and highly used in the medical fields.  What many people don't know is that it is very valuable as a poultice for muscle and joint pain.  It is safe to use on pets for minor cuts and scrapes.  Due to its antifungal properties, we use it to assist as a natural preservative.

CBD Oil - CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of many compounds known as cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant.  Due to our careful sourcing of supplier, our CBD is full spectrum, highest of quality and viability and is absolutely legal.  There are no psychoactive effects from any of our products containing CBD.  There is no reason to be concerned over use of this product or any testing requirements by your employer or ethical concerns.

Cannabidiol has been found to be extremely effective for pain, anxiety and a number of other disorders.  CBD oil can be used for its antioxidant properties, anti-cancer properties and anti-tumor properties.  Humans have cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies, indicating we were designed to have a symbiotic relationship with this plant.  The system of receptors is known as the endocannabinoid system and can allow benefits to be extended throughout the body - not just the brain.

Coconut Oil - Unrefined & Organic.  A semi-solid saturated fat extracted from the white meat of coconuts.  It is easily absorbed and does well as a barrier to help keep moisture in.  This is a much safer option over petroleum jelly.

Evening Primrose Oil - A natural antioxidant, high in essential fatty acids and gamma linoleic acid.  Excellent for mature skin, it helps with wrinkles, soothing, is anti-inflammatory and counteracts free radicals.

Grapeseed Oil - Non-greasy, slightly astringent and suitable for all skin types. Contains antioxidant Oligomeric Proanthocyanins (OPC's) that strengthen blood vessels and slow signs of aging (Not to be confused with rapeseed).

Hemp Seed Oil - Hemp is a non-psychoactive variety of the Cannabis plant and the seeds are used to make a beneficial oil for the skin.  It is rich in GLA, Omega 3 & 6 and contains 20 amino acids.  It is a thick, green oil with a nutty taste that can be applied to the face, skin and hair.

Jojoba Oil - (pronounced ho-hoba) This is actually a liquid wax pressed from the beans of a desert plant.  Non-greasy and keeps skin smooth & supple.  Naturally helps to unclog pores and restore natural pH balance.  Useful for treating inflammatory conditions.  Jojoba is the most similar to the composition of sebum, our skins own natural oil.  Therefore, Jojoba is readily accepted by the skin and absorbs quickly.

Red Raspberry Seed Oil - Contains a high amount of essential fatty acids and has been shown to greatly reduce oxidative stress in the skin.  It is one of the top-rated most nutritious oils for the skin with amazing anti-aging properties.

Neem Oil - This is a vegetable oil that is pressed from the fruits of a specific evergreen tree.  Offers antifungal properties, is regenerating and restoring.  Suitable for sensitive skin.

Olive Oil - (Extra Virgin, Organic) Skin calming, softening, and moisturizing with a high amount of minerals and vitamins.  When taken internally, olive oil stimulates the metabolism, promotes digestion and lubricates mucous membranes.  Highly antioxidant.

Rosehip Seed Oil - High in Vitamin C, rejuvenating and healing to the skin. Recommended for mature skin, reduces scarring and damaged skin.

Sunflower Oil - Offers skin enhancing ingredients such as potassium, Vitamin B & E, and Omega 6 fatty acids.  Sunflower oil is made from the seed.  Be sure to check to make sure it is okay to use with people with any nut allergies.

Additionally, we make our own herbal oils from organically grown plants.

 

DISTILLED ESSENTIAL OILS

These are outsourced through "NOW"  brand and mostly "organic" essential oils.

 

OTHER INGREDIENTS

Alcohol - A clarifying and astringent that is used for its solvent and preservative effects.  Pure grain alcohol (gluten free) is used for both topical and internal products.

Apple Cider Vinegar - "ACV" is high in potassium, which is needed for the proper functioning of the heart and muscles and is considered to be one of the oldest home remedies.  It can be used as a compress to help reduce swelling and pain. Apple cider vinegar contains many key vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes.  It is a germicide, astringent, anti-itch, slightly acid pH similar to that of skin. Contains nutrients such as beta-carotene, potassium, magnesium, calcium, riboflavin, thiamine, vitamins B, C, E, fruit acids and pectin.  Use "ACV" straight from the bottle for itchy skin, rashes, in bath water or use diluted for hair rinses.

Dead Sea Salt - Similar to regular sea salt but has a different composition due to it being extracted from the Dead Sea.  It has a lower sodium chloride percentage than oceanic salt.  It has been claimed to treat some skin ailments, arthritis, stimulate blood circulation and inflammation.

Epsom Salt - Magnesium Sulfate that is a time-tested mineral compound for healing and has been a home remedy for many years.  Used as a bath or poultice for muscle ache, soreness, strains, itchy skin, sunburn, redness and hives.  It makes an excellent exfoliant (dead skin cell scrub) for the skin with healing properties. 

Himalaya Salt - Comes from salt mines in the Himalaya Ridge 5,000 feet below the surface and is one of the purest salts available.  Used for culinary, air purifier, exfoliant (dead skin cell scrub) and therapeutic soaks.  It is pH balancing and considered a powerhouse of an electrolyte.

Honey - Our favorite ingredient to discuss!  The name of this familiar sweet substance comes from ancient Hebrew and means "enchant".  Used for culinary and topical applications.  Honey Bees naturally filter out any possible environmental toxins and act as their own biological filter.  Additionally, Honey Bees are environmentally sensitive and usually die if they come into contact with a toxin and will not make it back to the hive.

All raw honey disinfects and heals minor wounds.  It is used on the face for acne, in the hair to repair, on the skin for cracks and dryness, heals fungus and bacterial infections, assists with cold, flu, sore throat and cough.  It has been said to help reduce allergies and hay fever if purchased locally and is raw.

Sea Salt - Used as an exfoliant (dead skin cell scrub), water softener and a good source of essential minerals.  Used for blemishes, electrolytes and is a disinfectant.  A warm salt water gargle will offer excellent relief for a sore throat.

Sugar (Organic Raw) - Used only in our sugar scrubs as an exfoliant (dead skin cell scrub).

Plant Glycerine - An odorless liquid produced from a variety of plants and is used as a humectant (moisturizer) and preservative.  Typically made from palm and coconut oil. 

Vitamin E Oil - 100% natural d-alpha tocopheral (non synthetic).  This vitamin plays a huge role with our skin with its antioxidants and it naturally fights those effects by neutralizing the free radicals.  It has been shown to absorb UV-B light, preventing skin damage.

Water - Only Distilled, spring or mineral water is used when listed as an ingredient.  This ensures that no other chemicals such as chlorine or fluoride are accidentally mixed with the other all-natural ingredients.

Witch Hazel - Distilled extract of the herb offers a clear liquid which is excellent for skin cleansing and toning. Also used as a minor preservative in some products.
